Due to significant growth, we are recruiting for a Customer Discovery Manager. For us, this means gaining a new colleague who becomes part of our work family. Experience in a similar role is needed, however training will be given. The right attitude and aptitude are the key to success with us.
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work alongside our Project Manager to ensure customer requirements are discovered, documented and communicated within the team. The goal is to contribute to efficient and successful software implementations.
- Communicate closely with customers, to discover their requirements in relation to their Formpak implementation. This includes their data and the way they use it within their business processes. Topic specialists, for example in chemical regulation, are also available as part of our team.
- Co-ordinate with our team and manage implementation projects to ensure status is clear and timelines are as transparent as possible.
- Document and organise requirements relating to customer needs and requests.
- Undertake detailed discovery and record appropriate details for our team, relating to customer preferences and needs.
- Guide and support customers during implementation and ongoing use of Formpak.
- Help improve the internal processes and systems to make them more efficient, transparent and better for customers.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Competent using Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and confident to learn new software programs. Great organisation skills and attention to detail. Confident working closely with customers, building rapport and trust.
DESIRABLE SKILLS: Experience with ERP or PLM implementations or project management. Experience with Formpak software. Experience in a flavour, fragrance, cosmetic or related business where formulations or recipes are used.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Great communication skills (both verbal and written), good attention to detail, enthusiastic and driven to learn, team player with a good customer service approach.
HYBRID WORKING: We typically work from home three days per week and in the office twice a week. Customer interactions are almost entirely remote, using screen share technology. There may be occasional requirements to travel to customer sites.
Salary is £32,000 upwards depending on experience. This is a new position and available to start immediately.

- Plan for and assist with deployment of Formpak software to new customers, taking into account their technical and process requirements:
- Undertake detailed discovery and record appropriate details for our team, relating to customer preferences and needs.

- Help improve the internal processes and systems to make them more efficient, transparent and better for customers.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support to customers by answering queries of a Regulatory nature within a framework of our software.
- Research Regulatory changes and assist the Regulatory Manager in assessing the required changes to software.
- Attend industry meetings/events to further knowledge.
- Document requirements relating to regulatory requirements generally and for customer specific requirements, to contribute to successful implementations of documents and processes.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Competent using Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and confident to learn new software programs.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: Experience working within industry in a chemicals legislation role. Ideally with flavour experience, but fragrance, cosmetics or allied industry experience is also suitable.
OTHER RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: Using industry software to populate and obtain documentation for customers. Authoring GHS related Safety Data Sheets and Flavour technical data sheets. Aiding customers with regulatory and technical based questions.

We are looking for a skilled Java Software Engineer to lead the in-house development of our Formpak software as we continue to meet the challenges of complex customer requirements and moving our offerings to the cloud. Be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a complex Java based application. We are a small and collaborative team, expanding due to business growth, so your work will be quite diverse. You will be working both with our own team, and also cooperating with our long-term outsourced software development team.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyse design goals, specifications and use-cases, and from them create functional applications.
- Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable Java code.
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality and responsiveness of the application.
- Enable application monitoring and solve critical issues in a timely manner.
- Develop utilities, scripts, calculations, web service requests, etc, which interact with our software.
- Provide second line support where a customer issue require escalation due to technical complexity.
- Maintain close working relationships with Formpak outsourced technical partners, promoting innovative and collaborative work that efficiently meets project needs.
- Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Test and debug new applicational features and updates.
SKILLS NEEDED
- 4+ years of relevant experience as a Java-based software engineer or related development domains.
- Proficient in Java, with high knowledge of its ecosystem.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with modern application design principles such as event-driven and microservices architectural patterns.
- Knowledge of multithreaded programming and concurrency patterns in Java.
- Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs and Docker is essential.
- Exposure to Apache Camel, Apache Service Mix, Talend ESB or similar tools is an advantage.
- Understand the fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
- Ability to Implement automated unit and integration tests.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as GitHub.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and build tools such as Ant and Maven.
- Hands-on experience working in an Agile environment.
- Exposure to AWS cloud services is desirable.
- Strong listening, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ultimately, you are passionate on coding, care about impact, love a challenge, curious to learn new sides of programming and take ownership in solving problems.
